For the sixth consecutive year Elephant House, Sri Lanka’s iconic brand joined Deyata Kirula as the official soft drinks, ice cream and foods sponsor.
The Deyata Kirula mega national exhibition officially kicked off on 4 February and continued through to 10 February 2012. This year’s exhibition was considered the largest in the Deyata Kirula series.
People’s Bank sponsors pilgrim rest at Madhu Church

Nachchaduwa Irrigation Scheme rehabilitated with JICA assistance
The Nachchaduwa Irrigation Scheme rehabilitated under the Pro-Poor Economic Advancement and Community Enhancement Project (PEACE) was ceremonially declared open on 14 February by the Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Management Nimal Siripala De Silva with the participation of the Ambassador of Japan to Sri Lanka Nobuhito Hobo. Chief Minister of North Central Province Berty Premalal Dissanayake, Deputy Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Management W.B. Ekanayake and Chief Representative of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Akira Shimura also graced the occasion.
HNB donates school books in Nochchiyagama in conjunction with Deyata Kirula 2012
Nestled among the dynasty and grandeur of the great city of Anuradhapura, Nochchiyagama saw new hope as HNB unleashed new horizons to the children of Nochchiyagama through its library book donation program ‘Nena Pubuduwa.’
HNB initiated the event in Nochchiyagama to coincide with the Deyata Kirula Exhibition 2012, which was held in Oyamaduwa Anuradhapura. Children of Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Nochchiyagama, Dambulla, Galgamuwa, Kekirawa and adjoining towns saw library books being donated under the Nena Pubuduwa library scheme of HNB. Over 20 schools benefited through this program.

Commercial Bank CSR Trust sets up IT lab for Hambantota school
The CSR Trust of Commercial Bank of Ceylon has set up a fully-equipped computer laboratory at the Ranminitenna Primary School in Tissamaharamaya, Hambantota, continuing its nation-wide community initiative to improve IT education. With this donation, the Ranminitenna Primary School with 126 students becomes the 32nd school in Sri Lanka to receive a computer laboratory from the CSR Trust of Commercial Bank.
BAF’s ‘Ran Mehewara’ project to gift 300 bed ward complex to Homagama Base Hospital
On 16 February 2012, the Bamunu Arachchi Foundation (BAF), through its ongoing ‘Ran Mehewara’ project will donate a new 300 bed ward complex to the Homagama Base Hospital. The new ward complex will significantly enhance the quality of free healthcare services provided to the people of Homagama and its surrounding areas.
