Tokyo rubber futures end down 36% for 2011

BANGKOK (Reuters): Tokyo rubber futures ended the year down around 36 per cent, hurt by the festering euro zone debt crisis that triggered demand worries, but prices are expected to find some support from limited supply early next year.

Kenya 2011 tea auction sales dip on poor weather

NAIROBI (Reuters): Tea sold through the Kenyan auction fell by 4.1 per cent to 333.9 million kg this year from 348.15 million in 2010, Africa Tea Brokers said on Friday.

Malaysia plantation exports seen at record in 2011

KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters): Malaysia’s plantation commodity exports are expected to hit a record high of 140 billion ringgit ($44.06 billion) in 2011 due to strong demand, a Government Minister was quoted on Friday as saying.

Cotton worst-performing commodity in 2011, sinks 36.6%

NEW YORK (Reuters): Cotton ended 2011 as the worst-performing commodity market of the year, falling 36.6 per cent from 2010 as record prices boosted output and decimated demand while a shaky global economy scared off investors.

India’s Jan-Oct tea imports fall 14.6% as price rises

Coonoor, Dec. 27:  The tea import bill fell by 9.12 per cent year-on-year in the first 10 months of current calendar as suppliers raised prices, an analysis of latest data available with importers’ organisations and the Tea Board revealed.

e-sale of tea waste, packaged tea

Enthused by the response of cumulative sale of tea through e-auction route across the six auction centres in the country, the Tea Board of India plans to roll out e-auctions for tea waste, bulk tea and package tea in the near future.

Tokyo rubber futures fall 2.2%, worth half of 2011 high

BANGKOK, Dec 29 (Reuters) – Tokyo rubber futures fell 2.2 percent on Thursday, tracking a drop in stock markets, and looked set to end 2011 about 50 percent cheaper than at the high point of the year reached in February, before worries about global demand took over.

Ramnagar, Dec 29 : Farmers in Ramnagar in Uttarakhand’s Nainital District have taken up sugar free strawberry cultivation with an aim to ensure that the patients suffering from diabetes are able to consume it.
