Lal Medawattegedera wins the 2012 Gratiaen Prize
The Gratiaen Prize for the best work of creative writing in English was awarded to Lal Medawattegedera for his unpublished novel ‘Playing Pillow Politics at MGK’ on 4 May 2013 at Park Street Mews, Colombo. Last Saturday, the crowd at Electric Peacock Festival waited hours and restlessly for renowned, award winning British rapper Tinie Tempah to appear on stage. When he finally turned up, the waiting was long forgotten and everyone started dancing and singing along to his hits.
Tinie Tempah kicked off his set with UK No. 1 hit ‘Earthquake’. He dished out his other well-known hits: ‘Frisky’, ‘Till I’m gone’, ‘Simply Unstoppable’, Wonder Man’, ‘Drink from the bottle’, ‘R.I.P’ and ‘Pass Out’ in an electrifying performance with his DJ Charlesy.
