Indian Hindi playback singer Asha Bhosie visited Sri Lanka to participate in the musical show at the Sugathadasa Stadium on Friday. She visited the ITN Wickremesinghepura Battaramulla and ITN Chairman Rosmand Senarathne presented her a memento to mark her arrival in Sri Lanka.

The launch of the Volume III of ‘Sri Lankan Buddhist Art – The Southern Tradition’, the result of Gamini Jayasinghe’s singularly untiring efforts in photo-documenting the ancient Buddhist wall paintings of Sri Lanka, which is also the final volume of the ‘Sri Lankan Buddhist Art’ trilogy, was held on July 29, 2011 at the Galle Face Hotel.
Exploring the interconnected world of Eurasia
The 2011 Symposium on the Decorative Arts of Sri Lanka, themed “The Interconnected World of Eurasia” is scheduled to be held on August 24, 25 and 26 in Colombo.

However in a presentation organized by the Wildlife and Nature Protection Society of Sri Lanka, renowned cetacean specialist Anouk Ilangakoon cautioned that Sri Lanka’s whale watching industry is at present unsustainable.

Given her first camera at the tender age of seven, what started out as a mere hobby has grown into something far more and now over two decades since she received her first camera, Indu will now be portraying her work at her first solo exhibition at the Lionel Wendt this week.
