Local consumer favourite Elephant House soft drinks have been selected as the preferred pouring brand by Pub N’Places, the restaurant chain that is rapidly expanding within the island with its outlets, ‘O!’ and Machang restaurants. The wide choice of Elephant House soft drinks, which have only increased in popularity over the years, will be available in these restaurants along with the newly introduced ‘Light’ range of sugar-free Elephant House soft drinks.    Floor by O! the popular hang-out spot at CH&FC, will be extended to another outlet soon, according to Pub N’ Places, the franchisee who also own many Machang outlets scattered island-wide. McDonald’s Corp on Thursday said it would offer healthy options as part of its popular value meals, letting customers choose a side salad, fruit or vegetables instead of french fries. The announcement by the world’s largest fast-food chain comes as more companies respond to government and consumer pressure to address the global obesity epidemic. McDonald’s, which often bears the brunt of criticism over the restaurant industry’s penchant for tempting diners with indulgent and often high-calorie food, said it would offer the option in all of its 20 major global markets by 2020. McDonald’s also vowed to promote and market only water, milk and juice...

Hilton Colombo today announced their 20th Oktoberfest which is a typical German food and brew festival offering the best of Bavarian fare and a Bavarian band from 24 October to 2 November, at the sports centre arena.
