The cuisine of Mexico has evolved through thousands of years of blending indigenous cultures, later many European elements were added to suite the modern day diner after the 16th century. In November 2010, Mexican cuisine was added by UNESCO to its lists of the worlds “intangible cultural heritage”.

Sales of beauty products get boost from recession

Reuters: Tough economic times are boosting sales of beauty products and designer jeans as women put more emphasis on looking good and attracting a partner, according to a university study. Researchers in Texas found that a downturn in the economy has a positive impact on the beauty industry, in what has been dubbed the ‘lipstick effect’ and that price is not an issue.

The Alliance Francaise de Kotte in collaboration with Metropolitan Canon presented ‘Nostalgie02,’ an exhibition of black and white photographs by Kumar de Silva at the Harold Peries Gallery at the Lionel Wendt Arts Centre, Colombo last week. The expo was a sequel to last year’s successful ‘Nostalgie’ which showcased France in her multidimensional splendour.
