Sri Lankan International Society holds gala
The Sri Lankan Society International (SLSI) had its annual Gala Event recently at the main ballroom of the Galadari Hotel. It was held to raise funds for charitable and individual micro projects by SLSI
Investor interest
Many investors from around the globe showed interest in investing in Sri Lanka, with hundreds of investors and service providers flocking to Expo 2012 at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall. Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa held discussions with investor groups who participated in Expo 2012 from Belgium, Korea, United Kingdom, Japan, Hong Kong, China, Italy, United Arab Emirates, Malaysia and Dubai at his Ministry yesterday. The UK business delegation was led by British High Commissioner to Sri Lanka John Rankin and High Commissioner for Sri Lanka to the UK Dr. Chris Nonis, while the Italian business delegation was led by Fabrizio Pio Arpea, Ambassador for Italy in Sri Lanka and Asitha Perera, Ambassador for Sri Lanka to Italy.

JASTECA crowns best in 5S
The Japan Sri Lanka Technical and Cultural Association (JASTECA) last week held the 16th annual Taiki Akimoto 5S Awards ceremony. Since the awards were launched, nearly 650 companies have taken part with the 2011 competition drawing around 785 companies representing various sectors.
