Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences to visit Sri Lanka

Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences (Kunming), China together with its affiliate institute, Academy of South and Southeast Asia Studies, is scheduled to meet with Pathfinder Foundation on Tuesday 23 July.   

The delegation from Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences and Southeast Asia and South Asia is headed by Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences President Prof. He Zukun.

Founded in 1980, Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences is the only provincial-level comprehensive philosophy and social science research institution directly affiliated to the People’s Government of Yunnan Province. In September 2015, the CPC Yunnan Provincial Committee and the People’s Government of Yunnan Province established the Academy of South and Southeast Asia Studies with the support of Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences. 

The Academy consists of eight offices, three auxiliary units, two public welfare institutions and 17 research institutes. There are eight Institutes of International Relations, including Institute of Southeast Asian Studies, Institute of South Asian Studies, Institute of Indian Studies etc. There are over 250 professional and technical personnel including researchers and associate researchers currently engaged with the Academy. 

The Academy of Southeast Asia and South Asia mainly focuses on economics, politics, foreign relations, regional and sub-regional cooperation, traditional and modern cultures of South East Asia and South Asian countries. The research produced by the Academy is directly used in national foreign policy-making.
