China Products Exhibition kicks off in Colombo for 3rd consecutive year

With the aim of increasing trade as well as to help drive the domestic market in Sri Lanka, returning for the third year, the China Products Exhibition was declared open on 22 November at the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre (SLECC).

The two-day event has been organised by the China National Machinery and Equipment Import and Export Corporation, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Guangdong Committee, Worldex-SingEx Exhibitions (Guangzhou) Co. Ltd. and the Guangzhou Haisi Exhibition Company. The exhibition will be opened from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Department of Commerce Sri Lanka, Commerce Director General Sonali Wijeratne who was the Chief Guest at the opening ceremony said, “The China Products Exhibition in Colombo this year is a marked indication of this long term trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. It has become the biggest platform in Sri Lanka for Sri Lankan and Chinese entrepreneurs to interact with each other and provides an opportunity for the Sri Lankan industry to explore long term business associations with leading Chinese companies.”

“I believe this exhibition will be a component of contribution to Sri Lanka’s goal of developing its export strengths, by becoming a strong sourcing event. With the level of economic dynamics in play in the current playing field on international trade, Sri Lanka has undertaken a strong initiative to further develop its export base, moving into and broadening manufacturing capacity in export products into high growth industries,” she added.

The products at the show range from machinery, home security, marine electronics, hardware tools, household appliances, footwear, paper, bath ware, glassware, clothing, lighting, furniture, medical, household items to electronics and more.

Healson Technology, Fuzhou Huikaihua Arts and Crafts, Fujian Metals and Minerals, Homeland Trading, Fujian Zhongshe Machinery and Equipment, Fujian Tiancheng Holdings and Garments and Fujian Lianjiang Feilu Footwear are few of the many stalls present at the exhibition. Thereby the event will not only enable both small and big businesses to source Chinese products under one roof but will enable local companies to discuss business opportunities with their counterparts.

Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Guangdong Vice Chairman Linxiong, CCPIT Guangdong Vice Inspector Shen Meihong, CCPIT Guangdong Minister of Exhibition Department Cai Yile, Guangdong Federation of Industry and Commerce Vice President Yuan Zhimin, CMEC International Exhibition Co. Ltd. Deputy General Wu Chupeng, WorldEx- SingEx Exhibitions (Guangdong) Co. Ltd. Vice General Manager Wen Zhibin, Ministry of External Affairs Acting Director General Waruna Wilpatha, Sri Lanka China Business cooperation Council President Thilak Godamanna, National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka President Sujeeve Samaraweera and WorldEx India Exhibition and Promotion Ltd. Managing Director Rajesh Bhagat were all present at the opening ceremony of the event.
