COVID-19 patient count at 115, curfew to continue

As the COVID-19 patient count in Sri Lanka rose to 115, Police today said curfew in Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Puttalam, Kandy, and Jaffna Districts will continue indefinitely.

However, curfew in other areas will be lifted at 6 a.m. on Monday and re-imposed at 2 p.m.

In addition two villages in Kadayankulam in Puttalam and on village in Akurana in Kandy remain sealed to prevent spread of COVID-19, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.

The military has set up a quarantine centre at Kadayakulam in Puttalam to quarantine villagers as necessary for 14 days. Villages in Marawila and Naththandiya are also in lockdown after the first COVID-19 patient from Marawila died on Saturday.

According to the Health Promotion Bureau and the Epidemiology Unit, 199 patients have been hospitalised and nine have recovered and returned home.
