The Shanghai Institute of International Studies has forged a partnership with the Pathfinder Foundation to foster greater Sri Lanka-China collaboration.

A team from SIIS will be in Sri Lanka later this year as part of a fact-finding mission as well as engage with various stakeholders.

SIIS and Pathfinder have signed a MoU for collaborative research and studies in areas such as realising the economic benefits of the Maritime Silk Road initiative and strengthening the capacity of PF on strategic studies.

Together they held a Symposium on the Maritime Silk Road and China-Sri Lanka Relations in Shanghai, China in July last year. It comprised an academic conference and a business roundtable. A top business delegation led by State Minister for International Trade Sujeewa Samarasinghe attended.  This was following the visit of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to China in April last year.

SIIS and Pathfinder Foundation have also established a China-Sri Lanka Cooperation Studies Centre, with the main objective of conducting analytical studies, exchange of experiences and ideas, facilitation of business-to-business and people-to-people relations among others.
