Elevator firm KONE India has said it has expanded operations in Sri Lanka by entering into a distribution agreement with Scan Engineering Ltd.

KONE India, a subsidiary of the 8.8 billion euro KONE Corporation of Finland, has a production facility in Chennai which also caters to Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka markets.

The company has entered into a distribution agreement with Sri Lankan firm Scan Engineering Ltd., which has about 10 years of experience in installing, maintaining and servicing elevators and escalators, it said in a statement.

KONE will provide elevators, escalators as well as solutions for maintenance and modernisation to the Sri Lankan market.

“The tourism industry will be seeing a great growth and this will call for better infrastructure facilities, which will spur the growth of the construction sector. We see a good potential for our brand in this market as the customers like to have a premium quality brand of KONE for their use,” Kone Elevators India MD Amit Gossain said.

Scan Engineering Managing Director Keerthi Abeynayake said: “Our tie-up with KONE will further strengthen our confidence in serving the market much better.”
