A one-day workshop for media personnel specialised in tourism promotion, entitled ‘Sustainable Tourism for Development’, will be held on 19 March from 8.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. at the Senate Hall (College House) of the University of Colombo.

This workshop is being jointly organised by the Journalism Diploma Holders Organization (JDHO) of the University of Colombo and the Alumni Association of Tourism Economics and Hospitality Management (AATEHM) of the University of Colombo in collaboration with Sri Lanka Tourism.

The major purpose of organising this workshop is to provide contemporary knowledge on the recent trends and patterns of tourism development under the UNWTO Theme of Year 2017: Sustainable Tourism for Development.

The contents of this workshop will be focused on educating and empowering media personnel on the recent trends and patterns of tourism development in Sri Lanka under the context of the UNWTO Theme of Year 2017.

Leading industry experts, representatives from key industry associations, policymakers, researchers and academics will share their experiences while serving as the resource panel for this workshop. It is expected that the new knowledge gained from this workshop will be immensely beneficial for the media personnel to promote Sri Lanka tourism to the world while sending a strong message to industry stakeholders to be responsible contributors for sustainable tourism for development in Sri Lanka.
