No move to interfere in legal process on corrupt politicians

The Government says there is no move to interfere in the legal process on corrupt politicians.

State Minister of International Trade Sujeewa Senasinghe said that the police and judiciary will deal with those accused of corruption.

He said that if the former Government was in office there would have been interference in the judicial process and those accused will 04-01be behind bars in three months.

However, he says the current Government will not interfere in the investigations or the judicial process.

Sujeewa Senasinghe said that if a special court was appointed then the corrupt politicians could be placed behind bars in 6 to 9 months.

The Minister also called for a speedy investigation into the murder of rugger player Wasim Thajudeen.

He said that it was no secret who killed Thajudeen and claimed that the family of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa were involved. (Colombo Gazette)
