Rob Thomason of CPA Australia appointed to CMA Advisory Council

CMA Sri Lanka which has a close association with CPA Australia has appointed Rob Thomason Executive General Manager of Education as a Member of the Advisory Council. During the recent visit of Prof. Lakshman R. Untitled-1Watawala to CPA Australia on an invitation to attend the CPA Congress in Melbourne he met up with Rob Thomason who was officially appointed to the CMA Advisory Council. He also had meetings with the senior management of CPA Australia during this visit.

In Australia, there are three legally recognised local professional accounting bodies: CPA Australia (CPA), Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA) and the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA). All these bodies are members of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) and the Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA) and CMA are also members of these two bodies and the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) the regional accounting body for South Asia.

Rob is currently a member of the executive leadership team of CPA Australia, with responsibility for all their education activities. Prior to that, he was responsible for business development and new market entry. 

Rob has held a number of senior roles in education over the past two decades, having commenced his career in University Management. He has worked with and for Professional Associations, University Corporate arms and the private sector and brings wealth of knowledge and experience in designing, developing, promoting and delivering executive learning to assist organisations meet their goals. He has participated at CMA Conferences as a paper writer and presenter.

The appointment of Rob to the Advisory Council will result in CMA working closely with CPA Australia on education and training, continuing professional development, integrated reporting, mutual recognition which will benefit CMA members in their global recognition of the CMA qualification.
