CIM Sri Lanka appoints Board for 2017

The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Sri Lanka announced the appointment of the Board for 2017, at the 21st Annual General Meeting which took place recently at Hotel Galadari. 

On’ally Holdings PLC Managing Director Brian Selvanayagamwas appointed as the new Chairman whilstBrandix Lanka Ltd.CEO Asanga Ranasinghe was appointed as Honorary President of the Institute.Ranasinghe succeeds Stuart Chapman, who completed his term of three years.

The Honorary Presidentchaired the Annual General Meeting and invited the outgoing Chairman, Sanjika Perera to present the Annual Review of activities for the year 2015/2016. Perera highlighted the key initiatives implemented by the Institute during the year and shared its progresses. 

Making his inaugural speech as the new Chairman, Selvanayagamintroduced the new members to the Board who will drive forward the objectives of the Institute. He also thanked the outgoing Chairman, Sanjika Perera for his selfless dedication and contribution to the Institute’s growth and called upon CIM Sri Lanka members to take an active role in the Institute’s activities in the coming year. 

Unfolding the strategy for 2017, Selvanayagamsaid: “I believe our singular focus should be about promoting the CIM qualification. We need to educate the corporates about the value in recruiting CIM qualified staff to their organization and also ensure CIM recognition in the industry. This should be our priority.”

He also thanked outgoing Chairman Perera for introducing him to the Management Committee in 2007 and also Eardley Perera, G. S. Sylvester, Chapman, Dr. Rohan Fernando, Chitrangani Herat Gunaratne and Major General UdeniMunasinghe, Chief Executive Officer, CIM Sri Lanka for the constant source of advice, guidance, inspiration and support. 

The members of the Board for 2017 includeBrian Selvanayagamas Chairman; Sanjika Perera, Country Manager, Sabre Corporation as the immediate Past Chairman; Amal Fernando, Head of New Business Development at MAS Brands as the Vice Chairman; Sujith Silva, Managing Director Inspire Holdings as the Honorary Secretary; SumuduThanthirigoda, General  Manager, Sales and Marketing, ACL Cables as the Treasurer; Dilini Rathnayake, Brand Manager, Ceylinco Life Insurance asthe Head of Education; Rajiv David, Marketing Manager, Union Bank as the Head of Membership Development; RoshanKaluarachchi, Chief Business Strategies Officer, subsidiary companies of Sri Lanka Telecom as the Head of Corporate Communications; Charaka Perera, Director, Stafford Motors Ltd. as the Head of Corporate Trainings; MudithaHewawanitunga, Regional Manager, Sarvodaya Development Finance as the Head of Networking; KanchanaKarunagama, Senior Manager, Personal Financial Services, Hatton National Bank as the Head of Market Interest Group; and Chris Daly, Chief Executive of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) UK is the world’s largest professional body for marketing, represented locally by the CIM Sri Lanka. CIM Sri Lanka is the first international branch of CIM UK comprising the largest number of members, both professional and students of CIM outside the UK; 1,800 student members and over 1,000 professional members respectively.
