In celebration of World Children’s Day, SriLankan Cares, the charitable arm of Sri Lankan Airlines, Galle Face Hotel and Ebert Silva joined hands for the second year to make children their main focus, under the theme ‘In remembrance of you’.

The theme for World Children’s Day initiatives of these three pioneer institutions focused on paying honour and respect to the ones who were left behind; hence all three armed forces as well as the Police brought together 40 children along with their remaining parent for a memorable day on 1 October.

As Ebert Silva Holidays Chairperson Rajini Mendis stated: “Today’s experience for the children was to show them what they could aspire to be and also to recognise them as a growing generation that needs tender loving care.”

“In a civil strife, whichever side may call itself the victor, there are no winners, but survivors. The question is not who won the most but who lost the least. Hence the synergy through the three companies gave these children a very happy experience,” stated Galle Face Hotel Director Marketing Communications Mahika Chandrasena.

After arriving at the airport in a double decker bus, the children then headed to an aircraft for a familiarisation tour courtesy of the Airport and Aviation Authority. The evening ended with a delectable tea party at the Galle Face Hotel, thus concluding an evening that brought smiles of delight to their faces.

“Children are our treasure, and handling them with care and commitment whilst opening a whole world of hope for these innocent children, was our main objective,” SriLankan Cares Manager Niroshan Ranawake stated.
