Dr Monica Heller appointed as Sri Lanka’s First Honorary Consul in Ecuador

The Government of Sri Lanka with the concurrence of the Government of Ecuador has appointed Dr Monica Jaffa Heller Rapaport, a prominent and versatile Ecuadorian national based in Quito, as the Honorary Consul for Sri Lanka in Ecuador. 

The Honorary Consul-designate,   Dr. Heller was presented with the Commission of Appointment on 26th September 2016 at the Official Residence of Sri Lanka in Havana, by Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Cuba, Sarath Dissanayake, who holds concurrent accredited to Ecuador.  The presentation ceremony was also graced by Ecuadorian Ambassador to Cuba, Dr. Alex Fabian Solano Moreno, Spouse of Dr Heller, Jose Baum, Mrs. Dissanayake and Attaché of the Sri Lankan Embassy, Yoshitha Wijesuriya. 

Dr. Heller holds a Doctorate in Jurisprudence and a BA / BS Degree in Business Administration with long years of experience as a CEO cum successful entrepreneur in a range of portfolios including investment, real estate, building, construction, hospitality sectors etc. among others.  

While congratulating Dr. Heller on being appointed for the post of Honorary Consul for Sri Lanka, Ambassador Dissanayake wished her well in all future endeavours and assured her of Sri Lanka’s fullest support and cooperation to make her vision and mission a reality. The Ambassador also underscored the unstinted support and cooperation extended by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility of Ecuador and the Ecuadorian Ambassador to Cuba for the expeditious grant of concurrence and due formalities for the said appointment. 

Speaking on the occasion the Ecuadorian Ambassador to Cuba expressed his desire and commitment to work closely with the Embassy of Sri Lanka and the newly appointed Honorary Consul for further consolidation of relations between the two countries in the years ahead. On her part, Dr Heller conveyed her appreciation to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Ambassador of Sri Lanka for the confidence and trust reposed on her to serve as the first Honorary Consul for Sri Lanka in Ecuador and expressed her desire to foster bilateral friendly relations between Sri Lanka and Ecuador in all spheres of mutual interest.
