United National Party’s (UNP) former General Secretary Tissa Attanayake was issued notice by the Colombo High Court yesterday to appear before court on 19 October over alleged usage of forged documents during the past presidential election.

The allegation says Attanayake had used forged signatures of then common candidate Maithripala Sirisena and then Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe in a letter issued ahead of the presidential election.

Earlier, Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne sent a reminder to the Attorney General’s Department to expedite proceedings in the forged document case against Attanayake.
