UltraTech Cement Lanka awarded for commitment to eco-friendliness by CIOB

UltraTech Cement Lanka was bestowed with two coveted awards at the prestigious CIOB Green Awards Night held recently. Ceylon Institute of Builders (CIOB) recognises outstanding achievements in environmental design and performance at these annual awards. UltraTech cement received the Gold mark for Portland Pozzolana Cement (PPC) and the Silver mark for Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) at the glittering awards ceremony. 

UltraTech officials, GM (Marketing and Technical) Sandeep Holey, Head of Plant Shelton Jayrathna and AGM (Technical) Ananda Silva accepted the awards on behalf of the company. Winning two CIOB Green Awards reiterates UltraTech’s commitment to adopting environmentally-friendly manufacturing practices along its entire supply chain.

Commenting on the company’s performance, UltraTech Cement Lanka CEO Kiran Redkar said, “The Green Mark award bestowed by CIOB demonstrates the superior environmental performance of our products and underscores our commitment to protect the environment. GM (Marketing and Technical) Sandeep Holey stated that UltraTech Cement has adopted a strong environmental strategy that includes mitigation efforts to minimise the effects of climate change. UltraTech Cement focuses on manufacturing sustainable building materials that have a low carbon footprint. The company also possesses a stringent water and biodiversity management policy to sustain the reduction in its water and carbon footprint. CIOB is the premier professional body of building and construction professionals in Sri Lanka and the Green Mark is awarded to building products and construction materials that meet the green building standards set by CIOB.
