CBK meets former Japanese Premier Fukuda

A meeting was held between Chairperson of the Office for National Unity and Reconciliation (ONUR) and Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga and Former Prime Minister of Japan Yasuo Fukuda, who is currently visiting Sri Lanka. 

The strong bond and friendship between Sri Lanka and Japan was reiterated in the discussion. Kumaratunga spoke about the commitment of the Government towards national unity and reconciliation while Fukuda expressed his pleasure in seeing Sri Lanka move forward in peace and harmony. He also invited Kumaratunge to visit Japan in the near future. Kumaratunge invited Fukuda to facilitate bringing in Japanese investors to Sri Lanka to contribute towards economic development in Sri Lanka. Yasuo Fukuda is the current chairman of the Japan Sri Lanka Friendship Association and Boao Forum for Asia (BFA). Ambassador of Japan in Sri Lanka Kenichi Suganuma and Director of ONUR​ Amb. Danesh Casie Chetty also took part in the discussions.
