First veterinary pharmaceutical and animal feed premix export project approved by BoI

A leading veterinary pharmaceutical and feed additives company signed agreement with Sri Lanka’s apex investment promotion body, the Board of Investment (BoI), to invest over $ 5 million for export oriented project under the name of Farmchemie Manufacturers Ltd. 

The reputation that Farmchemie carries in Sri Lanka has spread to the international market and Farmchemie has received several inquiries on the locally formulated products mainly from India. Farmchemie Manufacturers Ltd. was formed mainly for catering the export market based on the said confirmed orders from the reputed buyers in India.

Farmchemie has determined to cater the potential market in Indian subcontinent and African countries and the company is expected to grow by $ 2.5 million globally by 2020. Farmchemie is expected to utilise local workforce to employ at their export project generating new job opportunities. Optimistic about Sri Lanka’s increasing popularity of being an excellent knowledge hub in the region, Farmchemie aspires to become the largest premix manufacturer and the First veterinary pharmaceutical exporter in Sri Lanka.

Farmchemie Ltd. has been registered as a limited liability company to carry on the business in 10 July 2002 and got the registration at the Department of Animal Production and Health as an importer, distributor and manufacturer of veterinary pharmaceuticals, biologicals, feed supplements, feed additives, sanitising agents and livestock equipment. With the guidance of passionate, ambitious and competitive leader, Farmchemie was able to reach the market leader level in 2007 among the other animal health input suppliers. Farmchemie still is the market leader in the Sri Lankan animal health market and the present market share enjoyed is over 28%.

In 2012 Farmchemie invested to build their own factory complex in Homagama industrial hub to start own repacking and production process to cater the local farmer community. Gradually Farmchemie was able to establish own brand ‘Farmstar’ and became top player in animal premix industry holding 35% market share among other premix manufacturers and importers within a short time period. In the succeeding year, Farmchemie received ISO 9001:2008 quality management system certification and WHO guided Good Manufacturing Practises for pharmaceutical certification for their operation becoming First and only veterinary health input supplier with such recognition.

At the very inception, Farmchemie exposed to the global industry and being coupled with world renowned suppliers in animal health market entered in to the veterinary pharmaceuticals, biologicals, sanitising agents and nutritional supplements market in 2002 with quality products from INVESA Internacional of Spain and NUTRISTAR International of France, DYNTEC of Czech Republic, VETERINA of Croatia, and DEGUSSA of Germany. Subsequently it joined with Huvepharma of Bulgaria, Kilco of UK and CEVA of France. 

While Penetrating the Industry of Animal Health, Farmchemie expanded its operations into Agricultural industry during the years 2003 -2004. Farmchemie Agro Division was formed and since the division was performing as a key player in the industry, Farmchemie Ltd. promoted a limited liability company as Farmchemie Agro Ltd. during the year 2004 separating the Agro division. Farmchemie Agro Ltd., presently known as Plantchem Ltd. is a growing company in the industry at present with acquiring greater market share year on year competing with market giants.

Animal Feed Industry was another area which Farmchemie was interested and operated during the years 2008-2010 as an extension to the Animal Health products. The division of Animal Feed of the Company was growing well within a couple of years so that Farmchemie had decided to promote this division as a separate Company during the year 2010. As a result Feed Chemie Ltd. was incorporated on 20th January 2010. At present Feed Chemie provides premium quality Animal Feed products in large scale to the industry and continue to grow its market share. 

Farmchemie always concerns parallel progression on both revenue generation and quality of their products and services. ISO 9001:2008 quality Management System certification and WHO-GMP certification of Farmchemie Ltd. and ISO 9001:2008 quality Management System certification of Plantchem Ltd. are the best evidences for the quality concern mind-set of Farmchemie group. Moreover Farmchemie Ltd. is the first and only animal health input supplier in Sri Lanka bearing Quality Management Certifications.

BoI project will expose Farmchemie to the global market and this will be the fresh beginning of new chapter of Farmchemie history.
