Mediagallery is a promising new entrant to Sri Lanka’s graphic design industry. Inspired by the adage ‘a picture speaks a thousand words’, the company under the stewardship of young design professional, Masud Zaheed brings a wealth of unique artistic talent to the profession, where ideas, dreams and business stories are transformed into stunning graphic images.

With a head, full of creative ideas and an expert eye for detail, Masud puts his skills to use with a ‘hands on’ approach where every design work receives his personal attention. His intervention has helped customers, notably, interior designers, entrepreneurs, corporates, SMEs and even home based business start-ups achieve product and brand visibility in a competitive market.

The company’s design solutions include, business and event logos, print and social media adverts, magazine layout, signage, brochures, company profiles, product branding, calligraphy, greeting cards, custom designed gifts and mementos, wall and desktop calendars and designing for the packaging industry.

Masud’s foray into the design profession dates back to his student days at Royal College, where he was entrusted with ‘designing’ responsibilities to several school publications, such as, the prestigious, Bradby Shield and the Royal-Thomian, Battle of the Blues souvenirs.

He humbly acknowledges that the accolades received for his pioneering design efforts at school, helped unlock his hidden potential and provided him with a spring board to launch himself into a design career.

Having completed his professional studies in graphic designing at the University of Information Technology, SLIIT, the young designer established his own creative studio. Guided by unique principles which he’s set himself, Masud ‘cherry picks’ the nature of work undertaken by his company, staying clear of businesses which by his standards, may cause harm to society.

He claims that this disciplined approach has not been an impediment to his company’s growth.

Airing his views on the progress made thus far, he says, “Besides taxing our creative minds, we don’t do anything different, we only live our promise to our customers, striving to maintain the highest standards in product quality, service and price. That is our priority, and I believe, that is what has helped us keep the candle burning bright.”

The company’s signature designs have been featured at recent public events such as the ‘Bradby Fiesta’, ‘Run for their Lives’ – the charity project in aid of cancer victims, the UNDP’s – Foresight and Innovation Conference, 2016 and several corporate workshops and events. Mediagalleryis also the official design partner to IFFSA 2016, the inaugural Islamic Finance Forum of South Asia (IFFSA), which is scheduled to open on 26 July in Colombo.

As the company looks to expand its local presence whilst pursuing business relationships overseas, Masud sees much potential in the profession and remains hopeful of improving on the strong growth trends.

He however cautions, that designers must be creative in thought and only those who are bold enough to infuse ‘out of the box’ ideas into their work and willing to adapt to the changing trends in design technology will stand out from the crowd.
