The Institute of Lean Management (ILM) awards ceremony 2016 first quarter was held at the Galadari Hotel on 4 May.

ILM CEO Thilak Pushpakumara, Association of TPM Practitioners Founder President, welcomed the audience. 

Lanka Tiles PLC Managing Director Mahendra Jayasekera participated as the Chief Guest and John Keells Holdings Vice President and Ceylon Cold Stores Head of Supply Chain Sanjeewa Jayasundara, Coca Cola Beverages South West Asia Group Supply Chain Capability Development Manager Manone Perera graced the occasion as Guests of Honour.sdf

ILM, a leading institute in Sri Lanka, is introducing world class best practices and producing world class manufacturing leaders, technical professionals, Advance 5S instructors, TPM practitioners, lean practitioners, change agents and waste watchers.

Nearly 30,000 professionals followed ILM public seminars, workshops and in house training related to lean management, Total Productive Maintenance & Management (TPM), and Toyota Production System (TPS) and has also produced over 700 TPM practitioners, 100 Advance 5S instructors and 450 lean practitioners since 2009.  More than 300 leading organisations invested in ILM services to develop their processes and human resources. Electrical Engineer S. Gobinath, who top the batch from four TPM batches received their Best Student award from Lanka Tiles PLC Managing Director Mahendra Jayasekera.

Menone Perera did a presentation on recent achievement of JIPM TPM excellence award at Coca Cola Beverages Ltd. Valedictorian speech delivered by Ovin De Silva, Assistant Manager Operational Excellence – Ceylon Cold Stores.  

ILM CEO Pushpakumara said the vision of ILM is to become the most preferred business partner in organisational transformation. ILM provides knowledge and inspire participants to apply principles to solve problems and improve performance but leadership and passion is required to achieve results. 

The ILM has become the leading provider of lean consulting and training services offering a range of interactive unique workshops and customised learning solutions to give organisations the necessary knowledge, tools and techniques and world class best practices to drive their own TPM and lean initiatives, Not only that ILM is going to introduce new programs to enhance service excellence through lean management, the CEO explained. 

The package training on offer through ILM is structured in a manner that the students are given an opportunity to get exposure to a wide area of lean management and supportive strategies such as Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Total Quality Management (TQM) and Toyota Production System (TPS), Advance 5S, Lean in HR and HR in Lean and Foreign Study Missions to Japan and Thailand.

The Chief Guest Mahendra Jayasekera, Managing Director, Lanka Tiles PLC, explained the importance of human side in implementing productivity initiatives such as TPM and lean. The mental fitness and physical fitness of humans also need to be addressed simultaneously to enjoy better results of TPM and lean initiatives.
