Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association better known as (WISTA), is an international networking organisation for women at management level involved in maritime transportation business and related trades. The Association is acknowledged as a professional and highly reputable shipping organisation with focus on improving levels of competency in the shipping industry.

WISTA Sri Lanka joined the first ever ‘Colombo International Maritime Conference 2015’ which concluded last week successfully.

Vinita Venkatesh a WISTA member and Krishnapatnam Port Container Terminal Director spoke on ‘Port Marketing’ – with a focus on the changing strategies being adopted by new age ports in the face of competition.

WISTA Sri Lanka President Shehara Jayawardana was a panellist of this session whilst WISTA Committee Member Kasturi Chellarajah was the Session Chairman.

Vinita addressed the WISTA Sri Lanka ladies on 23 September followed by cocktail which was hosted by the Chairman and the Directors of Colombo International Container Terminal. Vinita is a Director of Krishnapatnam Port Container Terminal (KPCT) and steers business development for the port, which has shown exceptional growth in throughput by-passing industry norms, largely attributable to an innovative market approach.  She has won the WISTA India Personality Year Award.
