Sithaka OP1: Equals all-time record price for tea

Yet another achievement by Sithaka Tea Factory, which is situated in the Sabaragamuwa Region and owned by renowned entrepreneur Lalith Liyanage, Chairman/Managing Director of RTS Group, who also owns Hidellana Tea Factory in the Ratnapura region.

For the New Year Sithaka Factory was successful in equalling the all-time record price of Rs. 2,050 per kilo for an OP1 Grade at the Colombo Tea Auction held on the 22 January. This Invoice (Invoice No. 2477) comprised 320 kilos.

This factory is known for manufacturing excellent quality teas. Lalith Liyanage personally ensures that the best quality standards are maintained. The other grades produced by Sithaka tea factory are also of fine quality.

The tea was auctioned by Mercantile Brokers Ltd. and was purchased by George Steuarts Tea, a leading exporter of tea from Sri Lanka.

This factory has produced high quality of Low Grown Orthodox teas and has achieved many all- time record prices and top prices at the Colombo Tea Auctions, as well as many international awards.

Sithaka factory has obtained many certificates namely; Rainforest Alliance certification, HACCP, ETP and CQC. Apart from Sithaka Tea Factory, Lalith Liyanage, Chairman of RTS Group is also owner of Hidellana and manages New Deraniyagala tea factories.

He has also diversified his business portfolio by successfully entering into the Leisure Sector with a beautifully laid out complex of chalets in Kuruvita named Bopath Fall Rock Chalets and Lake Serenity Resort and Spa which maintains very high standards. RTS Heavy Equipment, RTS Engineering, RTS Trading and RTS Petroleum Ltd. are his other businesses.
