MLH proudly presents their 6th Winemakers Dinner with Paul Boulden Chief Winemaker of the Sandalford Winery in Margaret River, Western Australia, on 1st April 2012 at the Maitland State Room.
“Our philosophy on winemakers dinners is elegant dining, top quality grape and minimal interference in pairing the perfect wine with fine food. The result is truly outstanding and delicious.” states Mr Anura Dewapura, General Manager of MLH.
“We are delighted to be joined by Paul Boulden from Sandalford Wines who will take us through a full range of Sandalford wines, matched to a delicious 4 course set menu created by our chefs headed by Executive Chef, Indika Jayawardena, Mr. Dewapura gores on to say.
Paul Boulden honed his skills with Chateau Monbazillac in France. In 1997, Paul made the move to a well-known boutique winery, Killerby, located in the Geographe region of Western Australia (WA). Within a year he also took on the role of General Manager as well as winemaker. After four years at Killerby he was offered his current position of Chief Winemaker starting with the 2001 vintage at Sandalford Wines, the oldest and largest Vineyard in Margaret River. Since Paul’s arrival at Sandalford Wines the winery has won multiple trophies and Gold medals across all of the Australian Capital City wine shows. Indeed, since 2010 the noted wine expert James Halliday has rated Sandalford Wines a 5 Red Star winery (his highest honour) in his latest Wine Companion naming no less than four of the Sandalford wines in his, “Best of the Best” section.
To top it all off, the noted WA wine writer, Ray Jordan has named Paul as, “WA Winemaker of the Year”, Sandalford as “Producer of the Year”, the 2008 Prendiville Shiraz as WA Shiraz of the Year and the 2009 Prendiville Shiraz the WA Wine of the Year! Speaking of Shiraz, at the National Wine Show of Australia in 2009, the Sandalford Margaret River Shiraz won three trophies, including the title of Best Red Wine of Show.!
The importer and distributor of Sandalford Wines in Sri Lanka is Favourite International Pvt Ltd (www.favouriteinternational.com). Managing Director, Mr. Prakash Mirchandani, expressed his delight and expressed the following, “The Food and Wine experiences offered at the MLH are unparalleled and, since Sandalford has a highly regarded restaurant on the Vineyard (which has won its own numerous awards and accolades), this event fits in wonderfully with the fantastic direction that MLH has taken in bringing gourmet experiences to Colombo!
