The Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC) in association with the Kandy Branch of the Colombo Stock Exchange is conducting an Investor Day on 30th July 2011 at the Kandy City Centre from 9.30 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. The aim of the Investor Day is to impart knowledge on capital market investments.

Another CR – Havies battle on hand

The second round games in the Caltex league will commence this weekend. Kandy will be pitted against Navy and traditional rivals CR will lock horns with the Havies. Both Navy and Havies lost their first round games to these opponents and will feel that that were the victims of poor decisions by the referee. That is all the past and the teams will have learnt from their shortcomings in the first round. Whilst the Kandy / Navy game will be at Nittawela the CR / Havies will be at the home of Lankan rugby at Longdon place.

Flawed Cricket Australia contract system to come under scrutiny after Sri Lanka selections

Cricket Australia will review their outdated and cumbersome contract system following the continuing outcry over controversial decisions by selectors.
Acting CA chief executive Michael Brown has reinforced the view of under-siege chairman of selectors Andrew Hilditch, who claimed the system was “far from ideal”.

Australia returns to second in IRB rankings

Australia have bounced back to second in the latest IRB World Rankings after a comfortable 39-20 victory over South Africa in their Tri Nations opener, regaining the place they lost following a shock defeat by Samoa the previous weekend.
The Wallabies scored five tries – through Ben Alexander, Digby Ioane, James O’Connor, Stephen Moore and Adam Ashley-Cooper – at ANZ Stadium in Sydney to swap places again with the Springboks, although they still remain eight tenths below their pre-Samoa loss rating.
