London, May 25 (IANS) Sri Lanka’s coach Stuart Law has described their forthcoming Test series against England as the ‘toughest deal on the planet’.
The former Australian admits that England are the top Test team in the world following two years of consistent results.

Gambhir likely to miss Windies tour with sore shoulder

Mumbai, May 25 (IANS) Gautam Gambhir has been advised rest for six weeks to nurse his ‘sore shoulder’ and is likely to miss the West Indies tour starting June 4. Suresh Raina will be leading the team in the One-day International series in Gambhir’s absence.

Chance for Sangakkara to regain number-one batting spot

England has a chance to regain the number-two ranking in the Reliance ICC Test Championship table when it goes head to head with Sri Lanka in the three-Test series starting in Cardiff on Thursday.
England, which retained second place for all but three months between August 2004 and November 2007, currently sits in third position on 117 ratings points while Sri Lanka is in fourth position on 109 ratings points.

•Dilshan passes 4,000 test runs

Sri Lanka negotiated an awkward 16 overs against the swinging ball to reach 35 without loss at tea against England on the first day of the first test after a reduced 70-minute session on Thursday.
After rain delayed the start by more than four hours with the game commencing at 1430GMT, new captain Tillakaratne Dilshan was on 18 and Tharanga Paranavitana had scored 16.
