GMR, the Bangalore-based infrastructure company, is being subjected to tax audits by the revenue authorities of Malé, Maldives, where it is operating the international airport, according to a report by Haaveru Online, a local website.

India’s economic growth on track, high oil prices a risk

(Reuters) – India’s economy will grow around 9 percent in the fiscal year that started in April if global crude prices remain under control, a top financial ministry official said on Monday, even as private sector economists predict slowing growth.

KUALA LUMPUR: Key regional markets succumbed to profit taking on Tuesday, April 26, ahead of the Federal Reserve meeting this week, with Japan’s Nikkei 225 falling almost 1.3%, as investors stayed on the sidelines to await the outcome of the meeting.

Unilever now buying 20% of global tea from Rainforest Alliance certified farms

Unilever said recently that at the end of 2010 it was buying the annual equivalent of 70,000 tonnes of tea from Rainforest Alliance Certified farms – about 20% of the multinational giant’s global purchases.

More demand for rice and rice flour with increasing cost of wheat flour

The Ministry of Agriculture predicts an increasing demand for rice and rice flour as the price of wheat flour goes up. The prediction of the Ministry is based on observations it has been made over a period of time since 1996.
