Pan Asia Bank announced that it had a very successful first quarter in 2011, with a Net Profit after Tax of Rs. 196 million up by 190 % over the corresponding period of last year.
Rupee at 29-month high on CB band cut, dlr fall
COLOMBO (Reuters) – The Sri Lankan rupee <LKR=> rose 0.4 percent on Thursday to its highest close in more than 29 months as the central bank lowered and narrowed the dollar trading band after the U.S. Fed decision to continue its ultra-easy monetary policy.

Sunshine Holdings’ tourism arm in JV with S’pore’s SilverNeedle
Sunshine Holdings Plc yesterday announced that its subsidiary Sunshine Travels & Tours Ltd. has entered into a Joint Venture Agreement with Nadathur Far East Pte. Limited’s affiliate SilverNeedle Hospitality Singapore to develop and manage several new hotels in Sri Lanka.
This joint venture is expected to invest approximately US$ 50 million in a phased manner to develop, acquire and manage hotel assets in different parts of the country.
